The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands

Text and Photography by Wilmar Dik

The Canary Islands sounded to me like a small, overcrowded, tourist destination. Over the last few months I was lucky enough to visit Tenerife and Fuerteventura, both around 10 days. What surprised me was the diversity of these islands. One moment you are driving around a forestry area, the next moment it feels like you are driving around on the moon. When driving around you will of course see other people, but it’s not as crowded as one would think. Traffic jams are hard to find. Instead you will find loads of nice places to hang out for a tapas or two, and great nature and moon-like mountain areas that are excellent for hiking! I would suggest seeing this for yourself. Besides this, the good food is cheap, you will find value for money accommodation, and it’s not that long to fly to!

Enjoy this kind of Spain (and the photo’s I shot there ;)
